The two frontrunners have been together since the start

After forty hours of racing, a second low is starting to punish the competitors in the heart of the Bay of Biscay, where conditions have severely worsened…

The two frontrunners, François Gabart and Francis Joyon, have escaped via the south and will be avoiding the worst of the weather. They are already at the latitude of Cape Saint-Vincent, the south-western tip of Portugal.

Armel Le Cléac’h, who had to carry out two gybes during the night is more than 300 miles away north to south from the two out in front. In a twelve knot westerly wind, the goal today is to try to pick up the Canary trade winds, but the breeze is set to weaken in the coming hours.
