This week, IDEC SPORT will compete in two championships – the ELMS with the LMP2 at the Castellet circuit and the 24H Series in Portimao on the Porsche 991 Cup.
We have seen that this year’s schedule is packed wih the IDEC SPORT drivers taking part in several championships. This week a choice had to be made because of a complicated timetable with the European Le Mans Series and the 24H Series. IDEC Sport will be attending both, although even with their talent they can’t be in both places at the same time. Patrice Lafargue and Paul Lafargue will be in the South of France on 26th – 27th August to take part in the Paul Ricard 4Hr race along with Olivier Pla. David Abramczyk, Romain Vozniak, Stéphane Adler, Michael Blanchemain and Christophe Cresp will be campaigning for the team in Portugal with the Porsche 991 Cup #75 at the Portimao 24H race on 25th-27th August.
The former group won’t be sunbathing in the Mediterranean sunshine, as they will be focusing on dealing with a pack of 35 cars. Even if the Paul Ricard circuit has a lot of escape routes, they are going to have to remain concentrated as they drive around the 16 bends over the 5.791 km track. The record for a LMP2 is 1m49.369. Will the Ligier JS P217 #28 speeding around the legendary Signes bend at full pelt to try to beat that time? We shall see in a few days from now at the fourth leg of the ELMS 2017.
The other IDEC SPORT trio will be aiming to do well in the 24H Series over 1250 miles from Paris. David Abramczyk, Romain Vozniak, Stéphane Adler have always been up there at the front in the SP2 category with the Porsche 991 Cup. They will be aiming for the podium after taking fourth place at Imola along with Michael Blanchemain and Christophe Cresp. Consistency will be key. The gang of five will begin their 24H battle at 1530 hrs on Saturday 26th August.
