HYUNDAI MOTORSPORT chooses IDEC SPORT for its endurance racing debut

For its entry into endurance racing under the Genesis luxury brand, Hyundai has selected IDEC SPORT and Oreca Motorsport to compete in the Hypercar category starting in 2026 with the GMR 001.

In Dubai, on Wednesday, December 4th, Hyundai Motorsport announced its commitment to
endurance racing. The South Korean manufacturer unveiled its new team, Genesis Magma
Racing, along with the GMR 001 Hypercar, developed in collaboration with Oreca
Motorsport.

Before joining the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA, Genesis Magma
Racing will compete in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) in 2025, partnering with IDEC
SPORT.

Genesis Magma Racing will benefit from the expertise of the French team to accelerate the
development of its structure and prepare for upcoming challenges. IDEC SPORT will
supervise and develop the human resources aspect, providing engineers, technicians, and
mechanics to help Genesis Magma Racing quickly find its footing in this highly competitive
discipline.

In the 2025 European Le Mans Series, IDEC SPORT will field two LMP2 cars: one dedicated
to Genesis Magma Racing’s teams and another representing IDEC SPORT.
Genesis Magma Racing has also announced its driver lineup: former Williams F1 driver
Logan Sargeant, British racer Jamie Chadwick, who have both tested with IDEC SPORT, and
young French Porsche Carrera Cup talent Mathys Jaubert.

Cyril Abiteboul, President of Hyundai Motorsport:
“We have exceptional partners in this program with ORECA MOTORSPORT and IDEC
SPORT, both well-established names in endurance racing, as well as an exciting lineup of
drivers. André and Pipo will lead our testing and development efforts in 2025 ahead of our
WEC debut in 2026. At the same time, we will focus on developing talents like Logan, Jamie,
and Mathys by integrating them into IDEC SPORT’s team for the 2025 European Le Mans
Series.”

Patrice Lafargue, President of IDEC SPORT:
“It’s a great honor for us to collaborate with a manufacturer like Hyundai. IDEC SPORT is a
team built by passionate individuals, and we’ve grown year after year. I want to sincerely
thank them for their trust; it means a lot to me and to the entire team. We’ve had great
successes, and seeing a brand like Genesis rely on our expertise is proof we’ve been doing
things the right way. We’ve shown that we can be serious competitors, capable of rivaling the
best while staying true to ourselves, which I believe is what appealed to Hyundai.
It’s a significant mission to help them train part of their team, and it’s a mission we’re excited
to take on at IDEC SPORT—a mission based on human relationships. I’ve always prioritized
the human element, and I continue to believe it’s the most important aspect. Even as we set
new goals, we’ll stick to our values because that’s what makes everything work and allows us
to move forward. Few teams have the opportunity to experience such an adventure. In
addition, we’ll be celebrating IDEC SPORT’s 10th anniversary in 2025, making this
recognition from Hyundai Motorsport even more rewarding.”

Nicolas Minassian, Team Principal at IDEC SPORT:
“We’re thrilled to welcome Genesis Magma Racing as they prepare for their future
challenges. A big thank-you to them for trusting IDEC SPORT. Our mission is to share our
endurance and prototype expertise to ensure they are ready for 2026.
This season, IDEC SPORT will field a second LMP2 in the ELMS and potentially in the 24
Hours of Le Mans if the application is accepted.
Logan is young but already well-experienced, with a background in endurance racing having
competed in the ELMS before F1. Jamie is a very fast, professional, and motivated driver,
and finally, Mathys, despite his young age, has shown strong potential. Our goal is to review
all the aspects with them that they need in order to be ready to join the Hypercar grid. I can
already feel the excitement and energy of everyone around this project. We’ve already
started working, and I can’t wait to see the cars on the starting grid of the first race of the
2025 season.”
