Spa-Francorchamps is surely the most legendary circuit on the 2024 European Le Mans Series calendar. Whether it’s for its hilly layout or for the spectacle it has provided in previous years, this circuit is equally loved by both drivers and spectators. IDEC SPORT has always shown its strength in the Ardennes. Just like in 2023, when a contact early in the race didn’t prevent a strong recovery up to 4th place.
This year, IDEC SPORT arrives at the fourth race of the season in 4th place in the championship. The French team is determined to score big points and stay in the title fight.
Since the start of the season, the IDEC SPORT team has once again proven that it belongs among the best. The performance is there. Only a few details are missing to secure a podium.
The LMP2 #28 drivers, Reshad de Gerus and Job Van Uitert, will be joined by Marcos Siebert, once again replacing Paul Lafargue. The goal is clear: reduce the gap with the championship leaders.
“It’s a circuit I really enjoy. It feels a bit like driving at home. I think we can do something good here. Overtaking is always tough, but a bit more doable than at Imola. I know the team will provide us with a good car. It’s up to us to deliver with Marcos and Reshad,” explains Dutch driver Job Van Uitert.
The IDEC SPORT drivers will have two practice sessions to find the best settings for the Oreca #28 (FP1 on August 23 at 11am and FP2 on August 24 at 10:15am). The LMP2 qualifying session will be live on Saturday, August 24 at 3:15pm. This session will be crucial as the leading cars can quickly create a gap with the back of the grid on a circuit like Spa. Led by a group of 22 LMP2, the 43-car field will line up for the race on Sunday, August 25 at 11:30am. The 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps will be streamed live and in full on the ELMS YouTube channel : youtube.com @EuropeanLeMansSeriesOfficial.
