The fifth and penultimate race of the European Le Mans Series season took place in Italy, at the Mugello circuit.
IDEC SPORT’s hopes of securing a good position before the grand finale in October were quickly dashed during the race.
The #28, driven by Reshad de Gerus, Job Van Uitert, and Nico Pino, started from fifth position. New to the team, Chilean driver Nicolas Pino was in the car for the start. After a strong stint, he handed the wheel over to Reshad de Gerus. After only four laps, the Frenchman was hit by the Ferrari #55. The contact caused significant damage to the left side of the Oreca IDEC SPORT, which could no longer continue on track. Reshad de Gerus is fine. The #28 was taken to the paddock on the tow truck.
Arriving at Mugello in third place in the championship, the team loses valuable points in the fight for the title.
The entire team remains focused on the final race, in Portimão, on October 19.
