ELMS 2024 : Disappointment for IDEC SPORT at the 4 Hours of Portimão

Alors qu’elle évoluait en 1ère position, l’écurie française subit un nouveau contact en course et termine en 13ème position. IDEC SPORT prend la cinquième place au championnat.

Starting from sixth place on the grid, the #28 IDEC SPORT car driven by Reshad de Gerus, Job Van Uitert, and Nicolas Pino quickly moved to the front. Chilean driver Nico Pino showcased his talent, delivering a flawless stint to take the lead and break away alone at the front.

After the first pit stop, Nico Pino is hit by a GT3. The #28 is stuck in the gravel.

Despite strong performances from Reshad de Gerus and Job Van Uitert during their stints, IDEC SPORT finishes the 4 Hours of Portimão in 13th place.

This second blank result in two races ends the hopes of finishing on the final podium. Patrice Lafargue’s team secures sixth place in the 2024 championship.

After a successful season, the last two races of the 2024 ELMS season are met with great disappointment, as the performance was there. The entire team, the drivers, the mechanics, and the engineers all did an exceptional job to make IDEC SPORT shine.

Nicolas Minassian, IDEC SPORT team principal, shares his thoughts, between a sense of duty accomplished and regrets : “I’m proud of the work done throughout the week. I have nothing to say on that front; unfortunately, it’s the racing aspect that gets in the way. There was the collision with the Ferrari, and that immediately took away any chance of a result. But I saw the strength of the team and the drivers for the rest of the race. We can be satisfied with the performance of the car, which was clearly there. It hurts not to have a result once again. On the other hand, everyone gave their best. When you leave a race weekend knowing you’ve worked well, that’s already something. The result is what it is. We’ll take it, and move forward.”
