Aviron Bayonnais is pleased to announce that the contract with their hooker, Torsten van Haarfeld, has been extended by two extra seasons.
After university, young Torsten joined the Steval Pumas with whom he competed in the Currie Cup, before joining the Cheetahs and Super Rugby and the PRO 14. But after his experience in South Africa, the Namibian hooker wanted to travel and dreamed of trying his luck in Europe. He was first approached by the Glasgow Warriors, and found out in 2018 that Yannick Bru was looking for a hooker and in the end chose the Aviron with whom he was French PRO D2 champion in 2019.
An international since 2014 with Namibia, he has just returned from the World Cup in Japan and played for the first time this season against Pau on 9th November.
