After their great win in the women’s Euroleague against Sopron on Wednesday, it’s time for a break for the Lionesses. After a few days off, half of the squad will be back at Mado Bonnet next Thursday when training restarts in Lyon. Clarissa DOS SANTOS has already taken the plane to Brazil to join the national squad. The Brazilians are competing in a pre qualifier for the Olympics from 14th to 17th November in Argentina.
The three members selected for the French team – Marine JOHANNES, Marième BADIANE and Helena CIAK – will be joining the team in a few days for a training course. Already qualified for the 2021 EuroBasket as co-organising country, France will not be taking part in the qualifiers and will take advantage of the break to prepare for the Olympic qualifiers taking place in February. Valerie GARNIER’s group will compete in two friendlies against Spain on 15th and 17th November in Zamora and Palencia. As for Julie ALLEMAND, selected by the trainer, Philip Mestdagh, will be heading for Belgium. The Belgian Cats will be up against Ukraine on 14th November at the Charleroi Dome and will then go to Finland on 17th November as part of the qualifiers for the 2021 EuroBasket.
