The Oreca #28 IDEC SPORT will set off in pole position in the Barcelona 4-Hour Race. Paul-Loup Chatin was the only driver to finish in less than 1’33’’000 completing his lap in 1’32’’765. This result rewards the work done by the whole team.
The session was cut short by three minutes after a red flag early in the qualifiers, but this did not worry Paul-Loup Chatin: “The tyres had not yet warmed up, so it didn’t matter. I stayed calm and that probably made all the difference. The car did well. We took a gamble as the car was set up differently from yesterday. In sport, you have to take chances and handle risks. Today, that paid off,” commented the driver in pole position. “I made a slight mistake in my first lap, when I got the best time, so we could have done slightly better, but I’m really pleased. We had been looking forward to getting pole position since the start of the season. We came close each time and this time we did it. It’s a point in the championship, so we’re back up to within a point of G-Drive.It feels fantastic to be able to set off in pole position. The battle is going to be a tough one.”
The Ligier #27 will set off on the ninth row.
