With the 2017 season only just over, IDEC SPORT is already focusing on 2018. For this new year of racing, the team is keeping the same philosophy and is above all aiming to move on up. To achieve this, Nicolas Minassian has joined the Ile de France team as its Racing Director.
The former Peugeot Sport driver from the WEC, Nicolas Minassian has joined IDEC SPORT as Director of racing and operations for the 2018 season. Hiring this big name was a deliberate measure, as IDEC SPORT is aiming to take things higher in the coming season, even if the main goal still remains taking each step at a time. Nicolas will bring along his experience and know-how of racing to the IDEC SPORT team.
The driver from Marseille already joined the team for one race in 2017 (on the Mercedes AMG GT3 in the Dubai 24-Hour race). The seven-time winner of the WEP immediately got on extremely well with Patrice Lafargue and the team, and getting on well together is a key element in the IDEC SPORT family.
“I’d firstly like to thank Elton and everyone in the Dragon speed team after a fantastic year with them. I wish them every success. I’m taking up a new challenge with IDEC SPORT. I’m joining an exciting and talented team with some big projects for next season,” explained Nicolas Minassian, “Looking at the team’s ambitions, its experience from the past, as well as mine, we will be doing our utmost to ensure the team gets to the highest level.”
Indeed, the experience of the French international driver will be a great advantage for the ambitious 2018 season. The team is competing with two LMP2s in the ELMS and in the Le Mans 24-Hour Series (awaiting confirmation of official competitor lists), as well as two GTs in the European 24H Series GT Championship. It looks like being a very busy schedule for this new season.
