On Friday 15th April, IDEC Sport will be competing in the Silverstone 4 Hour Race, which marks the start of the 2017 ELMS season. Patrice and Paul Lafargue will be joined by David Zollinger on the new Ligier JSP217.
IDEC Sport will be feeling confident as they set off to tackle the Silverstone 4 Hour Race after getting the best time in the prologue at Monza. As the magazine, Autohebdo pointed out in its special edition, Olivier Pla set a fantastic time, but this weekend, the star driver will not be at the wheel of the LMP2 #28, as he is busy racing with Ford in the GTE circuit. So it will be down to David Zollinger to defend the colours of IDEC alongside Patrice and Paul Lafargue for the maiden event of the season for the Ligier JSP217.
The two latter drivers will have the advantage of having already driven on the 5.89 km legendary F1 track, unlike David Zollinger, who will be discovering the eighteen bends at Silverstone.
The IDEC Sport trio will be up against a round a hundred drivers, including some of the big names from the P2 category like Nicolas Lapierre and Filipe Albuquerque.
The two trial sessions scheduled for Thursday and Friday will be crucial to get the car set up and to allow them to get to know the track as the qualifiers will take place for ten minutes on Friday (2.40-2.50 p.m.) with eleven other LMP2s.
The 36 competitors will set off for four hours of racing on the following day from 2.30 (BST). You can watch the race live at www.europeanlemansseries.com. The programme will start just before the race start.
The weekend will end with the Silverstone 6-Hour Race in the WEC.
