IDEC SPORT dominated the ELMS Prologue in Monza and finished at the top of the time sheet. This year, the team is taking advantage of its strong foundations.
1:36.461 was the reference time set in Monza by IDEC SPORT, which enabled the team to get to the top of the rankings in the 2017 ELMS prologue during the trials carried out over two days. This performance rewards the work done by IDEC SPORT and the hard work during the preparation phase.
As expected, it was the experienced driver, Olivier Pla, who was the fastest of the four IDEC SPORT members at the wheel of the Ligier JSP217 #28. The driver from Toulouse has found his feet in the team and set the outright best time on Wednesday during the morning session. They have certainly made up for the time lost during the preparation. Patrice Lafargue, Paul Lafargue, Olivier Pla and David Zollinger were able to take advantage of two consecutive sessions at Magny-Cours on a wet track and in the sunshine in Italy at Monza to get some more time behind the wheel. Even if they could do with a few more miles to complete their preparation, the drivers are in the process of achieving their goals and worked well with the engineers and mechanics.
“We all managed to drive and get to know the car. We understand her better now. What’s more, Michelin supplied us with sime long-lasting tyre. So we have been moving in the right direction,” explained Patrice Lafargue, pleased with the work that has been done. “The team is in good shape. Olivier is the leader of the band. He understood that the car needed to be accessible to us all and not jut for him. He has helped us all progress. We finish with the best outright time, which is highly encouraging for the team.”
After a successful prologue, IDEC SPORT will now be focusing on the first race of the season at Silverstone on 15th April. Patrice Lafargue and Paul Lafargue will be aided and abetted by David Zollinger, in their attempt to get a good result in Britain.
