For IDEC SPORT, as for the other 49 teams, the virtual Le Mans 24-Hour Race was something new. The race brought together the big names from car racing including F1 drivers, IndyCar stars and winners of the Le Mans 24-Hour Race. The European Le Mans Series title-holder had two of their 2020 drivers competing in this 24-hour race, Paul-Loup Chatin and Richard Bradley. Michi Hoyer and Franco Colapinto, both skilled gamers were also in the team.
The ORECA 07 LMP2 car set off from the eighth grid line with some strong competition. The four drivers did what was expected of them and each of them did a stint, with Paul-Loup Chatin live from the simulator at the Gabriel TV Studio in Paris. Early in the morning, the ORECA 07 #17 was hovering around the top ten and the team completed the race in tenth place at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the end of a race watched by thousands of TV viewers around the world. A great way to gain an appetite for the Le Mans 24-Hour Race scheduled for mid-September.
