Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe: the voyage is complete
Mission accomplished for the delivery crew – Christophe, Aubin, Antoine, Corentin and Bertrand – arrived early this morning in La Trinité-sur-Mer after a crossing that took a little over eight days. The three times winner of the race is moored up to a buoy before she into the yard.
Bertrand Delesne was on his first crossing aboard IDEC SPORT and looks back at this delivery trip: “This delivery trip was carried out with a superb crew, who were both friendly and professional. We headed up towards the north to the latitude of Bermuda, then sailed a long way east to the Azores. This was a way to get around the high via the north and get some downwind conditions, which the boat enjoys, as there were calm seas and that favoured high speeds. We headed up to the Azores, where there was a deep low which we looked like hitting off Cape Finisterre. So we hung around a little and made it through before the next low appeared. It was really a great exercise being aboard. You really get to understand how amazing a performance it was from Francis in the Route du Rhum. You realise what it entails.”
