It is on the mythical Autodromo Nazionale di Monza that the second leg of the 2018 ELMS will take place on 13th May. After the excellent shape we saw them in in France, IDEC Sport will be competing with their two P2s in Italy: the Oreca #28 and the Ligier #27.
Monza! Temple of speed, the mecca for car racing will host the second meeting in the 2018 European Le Mans Series for the Monza 4- Hour race. IDEC Sport will be appearing in the arena in Italy with the intention of being out there in front. The mechanics and engineers have worked on the Ligier to repair the damage from the two accidents they suffered in the leg at Castellet. The drivers have been busy too, both on the simulator and on theory in order to prepare for this weekend. After the pole position obtained by Paul-Loup Chatin at Castellet, the team is hoping to get results matching their performance, without forgetting that they will be enjoying themselves, which is at the heart of the approach from IDEC Sport.
Patrice Lafargue, William Cavailhes and Erik Maris will be defending the team’s colours in the Ligier #27 while Paul Lafargue, Paul-Loup Chatin, Memo Rojas will drive the Oreca #28 aiming to be up with the frontrunners.
For the team in the Oreca, the Monza 4-Hr race is doubly important. They need to get a lot of points to remain in with a chance of getting the title. Even if the race only lasts 4 hours, it will also be a warm-up for the Le Mans 24-Hr race. This is the final event for the #28 before the famous endurance race, which takes place on 16th-17th June.
The two IDEC Sport crews will take advantage of two 90-minute trial sessions to make the adjustments necessary on one of the fastest tracks this season. The French team will be doing their utmost to get pole position again in the 10-minute qualifier. The Monza 4-Hr race will take place on Sunday 13th May at 12.30.
